I don't know of any off-hand, however one place to start would be to scan
for 'cross-references' from other vendors like IDT, Toshiba, Samsung, Intel,
Motorola, etc. Now, pin for pin may not buy you anything in this situation
here. Just by the fact the Sony chip was an a thin carrier lends itself to
the possibility that that cache chip may not have been the original
designated design by the system engineers. You can move pins around on
these chip carriers based on your own requirements and availability of
parts. It's also a technique used to cover a design error which was
discovered after the motherboard had already been screened. I would have to
say the highest probability for success would be to have the new chip mount
on the thin carrier as opposed to straight into the daughter card. I'll
certainly look around for you. But I don't go back to the lab until
Tuesday. I can't remember the exact URL for the source parts database but I
do know it's part of IEEE. You can start by going to ieee.org. Warning
though, signing up to the database will lead to a ton of solicitation mail
from every component manufacturer with a new product. I will dig through
our library for a hard copy of the cxk78 next week.
