I don't have a 2400, but I did take my 1400 to Japan the last couple
times I went. Power cords are the same shape _except_ most outlets
aren't grounded, so you'll want to either snap off the grounding pin
on a power cord or buy an adapter that lets you put a three prong
plug into a two prong outlet. Standard voltage is 100V/60Hz if you're
in most of the country, but western Japan is 50Hz. Shouldn't be a
problem for an autosensing power supply in a laptop anyway.

Homes have the same phone plugs, so that's not a problem either;
I've used a couple different PC card modems with no problems.
This is staying in homes, I'm not sure what you'll find in hotels.
Maybe someone else has some experience there.

The only other thing you might want to take would be CD copies
of any disk utilities or essential software in case you experience
problems while there.

If you don't have an ISP with global roaming, you might want to
check out GOL <http://www.gol.com> they have access numbers
in major cities, and last I was there had a rate of about $4 per
month for ~15 hours, which was a lot cheaper than global roaming.
They also have English language tech support in case you should
need it.

Keep in mind that there are _no_ free telephone calls, even local
calls, so sometimes the local access charges are higher than the
ISP's rate.

Feel free to write me if you think I can be of any other help.

wayne
