Two quick thoughts....check PRAM battery (remove keyboard <3 screws> and
check w/voltmeter the 3-wire plug down by the trackpad); it should be arround
3.6VDC.
Leave the unit on charge for a full day...try again after doing two
powermanager resets. You may have a corrupted powermanager (the real bain of
existence for a Duo owner). The reason to leave the unit on charge for a
time is because the PRAM battery is actually a small rechargeable NiCad
battery....it may be low.
Second item.....power down, pull battery, let sit for 4-5 minutes, then pull
and reseat the RAM board. I had one which started to come loose....caused
all sort of problems. I finally cured it by placing a small rubber spacer
between the back ofthe RAM card and the case....held it in place quite nicely.
The 2300 is a tough machine....check these items first. While you have it
open, also pop off the "sleep" switch (two wire connector beside PRAM
connector near trackpad) and see if the unit boots. My first 2300 was one
bought from a service shop for $50 which "needed a logic board." I played
with it, discovered the switch was bad, and just disconnected it. Unit
worked great until it was stolen 4 years later (and work bought me a new
one!).
Hope you get it running!
Andrew
