You'll need either the 14.4 Apple Express Modem for Duos or the Global Village modem for Duos at 19.2. Any external modem should work fine through the serial port. As for installing things, you'll either need to connect the duo to another Mac via the serial port and share out a CD/floppy, or buy one of the docks or adapters. There are the full-sized docks with a floppy and HDI-40 SCSI connectors (IE, you'll need another adapter to get a standard DB-25), one of the mini-docks (expensive, but nice) with an external floppy and (probably) the same HDI-40 adapter, or there is just a floppy adapter you can use for the external floppy. Several options, but unfortunately there is no way of directly connecting a (standard) storage device to a duo without some kind of dock or adapter (at least, I've never heard of a serial floppy/CDROM, though I guess they could exist). Drop by eBay and do a search for things like "duo dock" and "duo floppy" and you'll pick up on the parts and things fairly quickly.
