I like to use PageMill to build my auction pages quickly. Once I'm done I
just switch to source mode, copy the HTML and past it into the eBay ad setup
page. I have a page template that I just do a save as with so I'm not
reinventing the wheel each time.
I too dislike pages that take forever to download with lots of tiny graphics
(corners, spacers etc.) so I use the KISS principal. Some brief text about
the item and it's history, then some bullet points for those who don't like
to read text but want some major highlights (Model#, RAM, HD size, G3/4
upgradable, no DOA, etc.).
I always use at least one picture, more if I think it will help sell. If I
think a large detailed shot is required, I usually have a thumbnail in my
auction which is linked to a larger image.
One thing I hate is when someone takes a large image and resizes it to a
smaller dimension without reducing the file size (i.e. a 10" wide image at a
2" size that still contains all the data of the 10" size). It should be
reduced in a graphics program before using it.
