Excellent idea. Though seem to be some rather heavy-duty applications
on your machines - assume these are for your own work.
Though I am not sure I'm completely comfortable with taking gaming to
street kids, would want to suggest two games - Bubble Trouble and
Snavely - that require less comprehension than dexterity.
Would like to think there'd be space also for more of the 'creative'
software (say a simple drawing program) and 'big picture' stuff such
as the globe imaging of Earth Browser (without the online extras).
Three practical suggestions if I may from experience.
Can the Duo drive an external monitor? You may find it cramped with a
dozen excited heads around the Duo screen. I'd invest in the
necessary cables that would allow various connecting options. You'll
quite likely find monitors to use locally.
Same goes for printing. Try and chase down a (serial or USB?) copy of
PowerPrint. Printouts, even if just black and white, are good for
easy smiles and something to take home. Again, printers you'll find
to borrow locally. Same principle as taking a Polaroid camera, too,
to be able to give the odd image out.
I also found that a few dozen images of your own 'who, what and
where' have a magical effect. Family, car, eating, sport activity,
days out, house, do you build anything? - easy on going over the top
with the flashy stuff.
Just my two bits.

I do recommend a visit to Low End Mac to trawl through their
extensive collection of articles and comment. Even if they did
published that recent unfortunate Duo article you referenced in the
subject. Great resource.
