The casing seperating in those areas is common in the 2300's. The plastic
tabs wear/or break in time. There is no easy fix other than replacing the
plastic. Glue might work but it needs to be flexible i think. Try

Serial port speed will not slow your 56k modem down. It's plenty fast for
that.
