I recently rebuilt my battery for a Duo 2300c, and it's been wonderful, for
a total cost of $40 and an hour or so of my time.

What you have to do is take a utility knife or the like and cut the case in
half along the groove on the edge. Once you get a side and a half or two
adjacent sides cut, you should be able to pull it the rest of the way apart.

I bet there would be an interest in rebuilt batteries, especially at a
reasonable price.
