I'm hoping someone can make a recommendation for me. I love Macs, and I spend a lot of (too much?) time on my 333mhz iMac. I've never had a notebook computer before, though I have thought about buying one from time to time. A few months ago, I started thinking about getting a PDA, and was leaning toward the subnotebook-ish Diamond Mako, even though it's not Mac-compatible (I know the Psion series 5 is pseudo-Mac-compatible, but the ones I've seen on eBay are generally more expensive than the Mako and do not include the hard-to-find Macconnect software). The Mako attracted me because it seems that it would not only replace my pen/paper planner, but it would also fulfill my needs to take notes on something at work, to write while I am away from my home and work computers, and to access e-mail and basic internet functions (directions, yellow pages) while traveling.
The more I started thinking, though, the more I wondered how much of a problem the compatibility issue would be. I have also been very concerned about Diamond's (and Psion's) poor customer support record. Familiar with and loving my Mac desktop computers, I started considering a combination of a used Powerbook (such as a 540c or a cheap 1400c) and a Mac-compatible Handspring Visor Deluxe PDA instead. I now wonder if getting a more compact Powerbook like a Duo 280c or 2300c would eliminate the need for a notebook AND a PDA (I'd rather buy a single device unless there is a clear reason to buy two instead). As you can see from the models I'm considering, I hope to solve this for under $200 (on eBay). What would be the best choice? Any suggestions at all would be appreciated (please CC all responses to me at [EMAIL PROTECTED]). Rob Fargo ---------- Duo/2400 List, The friendliest place on the Net!
