In answer to both posts...
I had a happy mac, then came the sad mac.

I tried to reboot several times, but no cigar.

I'm out of town right now, but when I get back home tomorrow I'll reseat the ram as 
suggested and try to boot from floppy to see if that makes a difference.

Thanks for the suggestions...
