Many thanks for the input to Jose as well as Ron. Both of you mention 
something I rely on heavily: d-pix transfer via pcmcia. I work from different 
locations regularly (Jose - one of them being Palma), rely on a machine's 
sturdiness and can't afford to get stuck.
  Haven't done any upgrading except Ram to the 2400, but perhaps I should 
consider at least a bigger drive: the smallish 750mb forces me to do major 
housecleaning quite often.
