Hi Jake, It is ture in Canada too. The local compay store is asking $249cdn ......
Base on " Linux PCMCIA Support Device List" http://pcmcia-cs.sourceforge.net/ftp/SUPPORTED.CARDS There is over 30 PCMCIA card using the same Tulip (Dec 21xxxx) chipset. I believe I can find one really cheap on the PC hardware section. As long as the apple "DEC" driver do nothing special, it should work....... Anyone has one of those to try???? I am going to try the linsys pcmpc200, it should be less than $100 on local computer store.
