Standard 12V power inverter connected to a 12V gel cell. Probably has a
charger built into the system. Neat idea! Bet you can get a higher cap 12V
gelcell and boost operation time.

Another possible is to use a 12V cell to drive the unit directly. I've done
this, but will have to try it again on the Duo series as I think that the Duo
didn't like not having the thermistor/serial # chip accessible when running
on "battery." Can't remember how I worked around it, or if it even caused a
problem. However, you DO NOT want to try to charge such a battery.....it
WILL fry the charging circuit. Also, a fuse is a must....can you imagine
your nice 2300 logic absorbing 20A of current in a short circuit condix??

(Hmmmm....too many diet drinks....Nutrasweet affects.....umm, can't
remember??!!??)

OK, I remember now...had hooked it up to a 17 aH gelcell, worked fine. As I
had an ammeter in line, tried to charge the cell.....I'm amazed how fast
components get hot! Not advisable, esp. if the gelcell is more than a couple
of tenth's of a volt under 12V. Ran the 2300 for about 7 hours on one
charge. Duo complained that the battery was defective, tho. Think I still
have the old battery case I used for that.....I'll check it again when I get
a chance.
