Yeah, I bought a 666, er, 667Mhz new TiBook though. The Apple Tax on the extra Mhz seems a tad too high to me... besides, I use my computer for email, web browsing and network/server administration tasks...it is not like I need a ton of CPU horsepower. =) >Arrived 1 hour b4 I left USA early May. Don't you love that! I ended up bringing *both* the new TiBook and the green 2400c with me on a trip to Europe since the Ti arrived the day before I left. >Decided it was time >to come to grips properly w/OS X. Indeed, though I have been managing it since version 1 of the server... in other words, over three years now. >Big, Yep. I had to get a new bag. The trusty old small-ish beaten leather briefcase has been retired. I now carry a huge bike messenger-style bag. >fragile, I nearly cried on my first case scratch! The finish on the TiBook is way too fragile! >great screen, has to be >babied and I'll continue to upgrade a few 2400s as far as we can get the >company to go. (Awaiting an email reply to my latest query). I am *really* unwilling to sell my 2400c (green) or my 'spare' Comet. Maybe I should sell the latter though. Along with my spare parts collection maybe. The Green Comet will still travel with me to MacWorld Expo though... it is such a geek magnet. =) I have to figure out how to recreate the finish of my 2400c on the Ti case. > I'll dump the Ti as soon as they go to the next form factor. I >didn't know they left out >IrDA I knew that, and it is ironic as I just got back into carrying a PDA... a Kyocera Smartphone (a mobile phone/Palm device.) I have yet to sync it with my TiBook. =( Kyocera should be shipping a USB sync cable RSN. >and now we're stranded on Bluetooth too. Mine has to go back >(eventually) to Apple because the hinges are so tight the PB won't >sleep--the screen pops back up 3/4" so I have to manually sleep it or flip >it over-- Mine has no such issue(s). >and the keyboard prints on the screen problem persists.... That is annoying as hell. I plan to grab a chamois cloth at an auto parts store this weekend and cut it to fit over the keyboard for when it is in my bag. > >BTW, IMO OS X is not quite there yet so I'm running more in 9.2.2 than >Classic under OS X. Not me... OS X all the way. I have never booted into OS 9 on the TiBook, and have only run "Classic" three times, twice by accident (clicking on a JPEG file!) I *love* OS X. But then again, I have been a unix weenie, er ..."professional unix systems administrator" since 1989... including some time as a NeXTstep admin back in the 90's, so the transition has not been too abrupt for me. -- --chuck goolsbee geek wrangler, digital.forest inc, bothell, wa <http://www.forest.net> list mom, mac-mgrs mailing list... <http://www.mac-mgrs.org> ---------- Duo/2400 List, The friendliest place on the Net!
