I take it that you have selected <German (Standard)[de]> and <Western
(Latin1)> in the language prefs of IE and tried different font settings?
Fonts actually should not matter in this, although Apple released a >German
patch< for the Chicago system font if memory serves my right. There should
be a <German> file in the <language and region support> folder in your
system folder too. What about receiving ��� and � in your mail?. I use IE
5.1.4 all the time with German pages, on the rare occasions this problem
occurred it turned out to be server/java related - check for java.lang
exceptions in the log and try disabling java.
