This is the way XPostFacto works on our Powermac 8500:

--- You should restart while holding the option key, that's the 
*only* way to boot back in MacOS 9, be it from the CD or any HD 
partition. Similarly, in order to boot in MacOS X again you have to 
use XPostFacto to select the MacOS X partition, using the startup 
control panel won't work.

--- It could be that the MacOS 9 partition has become unblessed: in 
this case try opening and then closing the system folder. The latest 
DiskWarrior can also fix that problem for you.

--- Having a system folder earlier than OS 9.1 in a XPostFacto 
installation is asking for trouble.

If nobody's sent you the boot floppy image yet, you can find them 
(there are two of them) in the MacOS 8 CD included with the 2400c.
