Terry, here's my 2p: As your modem is dialing up and establishing the phone connection to your ISP's modem, problems such as an occupied modem port can be ruled out. Your modem sends the ID and gets "online". However this does not mean you have a data transfer connection - the PPP script may not be executed properly or not at all. In the TCP/IP panel "PPP" and "PPP server" must be selected, of course. My advice: Check again the settings in the Remote Access control panel (options -> protocol), enable the "extensive protocol" option under the "connection" rider to get a detailed description of the procedure (to be found under the "Remote Access" menu item when the ARA panel is active). Keep "About Remote Access" open to see whether any data gets send back from the remote server during the attempt at connection. What appears strange to me is your remark that you have > "Remote Access Personal Server" 4.0. I'm uncertain if this is > just the client or is the server version. AFAIK the server functions of ARA were not inluded with the OS. If ARA client/server (a separate program) has been installed on your machine, then there should be a control panel somewhere to allow switching between the server/client status - to connect to the ISP`s server you should be identified as a client. Hope this helps (although these are just sharp guesses) Edgar ---------- Duo/2400 List, The friendliest place on the Net! A listserv for users and fans of Mac subportables.
