Just playing devil's advocate here, BUT...why would you give up on such a
great book without even having it checked out? Unless of course, you don't
value your machine.
I freaked when my 2400 went down, but had it back from Apple in three or
four days...granted I still had my warranty (1 month to go) and they did
replace the CPU...mine just died as well...
I suggest since you don't have a warranty...contact MCE...they are, from
what others on the list have said, great when it comes to 2400's. Certainly
it will be cheaper than buying a new book, but if $$$ doesn't matter....how
far out of warranty are you?...you might be able to get Apple Care...call
them, say the book is fine...say Apple didn't contact you regarding Apple
Care...get the care, then...oops! suddenly it doesn't work...I don't have a
problem with a little lie...Apple shouldn't have made bad processors to
begin with...the 2400 is a known problem...they just don't admit it...there
has been plenty of evidence here on the list to support that they are a
problem...however once fixed, they seem just fine...in fact better than
new...(knock wood)
Sorry if people don't agree ethically, but I would be really PO'd if I
didn't get a new processor out of Apple...
