I had the same problem with my Express modem, as did at least one other
listmember.
Evidently, going to OS 8.6 removes some necessary modem files and/or
resources. If you haven't already, try re-installing your GV software -- not
simply removing/replacing the control panels and extensions. It should be
fine afterward.
