I have the same problem running under 7.5.3 on my 2300c, so it's probably
not the OS. I do not have this problem (although I have many other
problems) with iCab, and also didn't with MSIE before I banished all things
Microsoft from my computer. I also have an identical problem with Eudora
Lite if my connection has been lost while I'm trying to connect to my mail
server. Simply redialing my ISP isn't enough, I have to back out of
Eudora, too, and sometimes even reboot. Very strange.
I also asked about FreePPP some time ago. I always have to dial my ISP
twice. The first time it always hangs up on verifying my whatever. The
second time the connection is always made. Somebody suggested that it might
be something on my ISP's end, but I spoke to them and they just laughed --
saying the server doesn't know what platform I'm using, which makes sense,
I guess.
