You mentioned crazy glue but do not underestimate it's power and usefulness.  
I had a similar horror when my minidock snapped, but patience and extra 
strength crazy glue did the trick.  It makes me much more cautious about how 
I handle the dock, but had I been more careful to start, I might not have had 
to use the glue to begin with!
