dttservice.com lists the upgrade to a 2300 at $400. Seems unreasonable to
upgrade when you can buy a good used 2300c on eBay for that, but, like you
implied, college bugeteers often live in another world. With that upgrade
you'll have a machine that tests out at about 10% of the speed of your G3
at home, so you're likely to still be disappointed, although I suspect the
machine will seem more responsive.
