My AC adapter failed, depending on which way you bend the wire coming out of it. So I bent it the good way, put a rubber band around it, leave it in a fixed place in my cubicle and got a new AC adapter from AppleCare (fortunately, they didn't want the bad one back). It is fixed, as far as I know, but the screen flickers once every few minutes, as others have reported. Never happens when on the new AC adapter or on batteries. As an electrical engineer, I'm sure interested to know why these "fixed" power supplies cause the screen to flicker. It works reliably as long as I leave the rubber band on it....how can it be intermittent?
