The wake from sleep with Mac OS 8.6 can take some 15-30 seconds and it's 
not a freeze although it seems like it. To minimize this to 7-10
seconds, turn off AppleTalk and other networking software, including the
"Reconnect When Wake" or something like that in the Energy Control
panel.
