My 2400 had the same problem twice I think, but if I recall not heat-related 
at all. Mine is stock, 180 mhz, now running 8.6, then 8.1 or possibly even 
7.5.1, thus quite a while ago. Only remedy then was the same as described 
here: disconnect ac, remove battery, let sit for a while (at least 
roastbeef-cooking-time I recall), reconnect, reset, start. Odd, no ? And 
hasn't happend in a quite a while.
