I've never seen one of those either, so we can assume it's a proprietary
version of the Apple DB-25 connector. I suspect Sony sells (or once sold)
an alternate DB-25 cable for use with desktops, but I'll bet it was never
cheap.
The other problem with rolling one's own SCSI cable is that it's hard to
make one that won't just be a mess of bouncing signals and cause all sorts
of trouble on the SCSI bus. A floppy cable is a lot more forgiving. Even if
one could find the appropriate cable ends, it's probably easier and cheaper
to just find a sub-$100 Reno or Panasonic drive, or a $50 desktop external.
