If you really have to use Word, go ahead. There are a couple of 
alternatives though. MarinerWrite is an excellent program and it opens 
and saves in RTF (Word) format, so you can give it to Word users. I like 
it because it's small, very configurable, fast and reliable. It has most 
of the features that Word has that I would use, at any rate. You can 
download a trial version on the net.
