In December, 1999 Arnie at MCE told the DuoList:
"The behavior of the CardBus-enabled 2400 to not startup with the
MacAlly USB card inserted is, indeed, typical. We are hoping that
the next iteration of
Apple's CardBus Support driver takes care of this."
This was in response to a DuoLister using CardBus Support 1.3.5...so YMMV.
Here's what I've got:
PB 2400/Newer G3/240/80MB RAM running OS 8.6 w/MCE CardBus conversion
USB Adapter Card Support 1.3.5
MacAlly CardBus Card
GV V.90 Modem
Epson 610 Scanner
1. PB 2400 powered off, CardBus Card installed with scanner
connected. Machine booted up.
OUTCOME:
A. Photoshop launched and scan completed
B. Cards eject via hardware buttons and reinserted.
C. Photoshop launched and scan completed
2. PB 2400 w/CardBus card installed put to sleep, then restarted
OUTCOME:
A. Photoshop launched and scan completed
3. PB 2400 w/CardBus card installed, card ejected via drag/drop to
trash, reinserted
OUTCOME:
A. Photoshop launched and scan completed
4. PB 2400 active with no CardBus card installed. Card installed
OUTCOME:
A. Card recognized on desktop , but scanner not active. Launched
Photoshop and application hangs. Repeated with Hotshot(Epson
app)...same response.
Bottomline:
As long as the MacAlly CardBus card is installed at the time of
startup I can sleep or remove/reinsert it, but apparently it doesn't
recognize my scanner if the card is loaded after the PB is booted
up...even though the card itself is recognized.
Hope that helps...
