Yeah, except then there's film and developing time/costs. If you are really using
this mainly for e-mail, I'd get the digital camera. It doesn't take that long to
download through serial and there is nothing like having 62 pictures available
(depending on memory card size) which you can edit on the fly. Because I don't
have to pay for it, I take pictures of everything now. Not to mention, if I see
my dogs looking especially cute in the back yard and want to share, I simply take
the picture, immediately download it to my computer and e-mail to all of my
friends. For all except portraits, archival photos and media uses, the digital
camera is the way to go. Now families can have all of the pictures of their
babies, etc. they want, easily organized and serachable and instantly e-mailable
to Grandma. DV offers the same thing, far better than VHS over 8mm, even though
the quality is not as good. Imagine if the Zapruder film had been shot on VHS or
DV. So much detail would have been lost.
