This is a very good tip--and not as all as crazy as it might sound. About a
week ago I had the same problem too. It turned out one of the two only
screws I'd never checked had fallen out and lodged on the exposed wires
between two small chips--enough to black out the screen and prevent the
Apple startup "boing" on the 3-finger salute. But I could hear power start
to flow so I suspected a defective internal power board. Opening up the 2400
I saw one of the track pad screws had fallen out. After rectifying this
simplest of all solutions, to my great relief, everything worked again.
Anyway the spare power supply will be assuredly handy.
