I installed an 8 gig Travelstar in my 2400. Unless you're real comfortable
with keeping track of all the screws while at the same time careful about
static, it can be done. There are guides available via the 2400 site, takes
about an hour the first time and is not for the faint at heart.

However my first try at replacing the drive went less than smoothly as the
first drive that was sent me turned out to be defective. My motherboard
died immediately afterwards and I'll never be convinced it was a
coincedence.

So, bottom line is that if you're very confident about taking the 2400
completely apart and will be getting a working drive, it's doable. It'll be
a plus if the vendor can put a Mac driver on it as well. If not, I'd leave
the install to someone who will take responsibility if anything goes wrong.
. .

Good luck!
