Well, thanks to all of you for your insight and warnings! I've got the
new hard drive ($147 from Onvia.com) and I'm trying to figure out how to
initialize it and install a system before I actually do the
installation. Right now, I'm trying to borrow an external CD reader. As
soon as I take care of that small problem, I'll be ready to crack the
case.
I've never opened the 2400 before, but I have a 9500, 3 PowerCenter
Pro's, 2 G4's and a G3 (and an original Portable, and a 5300) and I've
taken them all apart to add memory, harddrives, G3 upgrade cards, etc.
so I think I'm ready to move up to surgery on a 2400. :)
If anything goes terribly wrong, well there's always 911 (or whatever
the phone number at MCE!)
Does anyone know of a repair facility in the SF/Bay Area?
regards,
beth
