I'm new to Duo's and single port Macs. I acquired a 270c with the factory original system 7.1 and a 14.4 Apple Express internal modem. I want to get it on the internet. I installed Open Transport 1.1.2 and MacPPP 2.5 and when I try to open my PPP connection I get the message: "The serial port that was selected to be used by PPP seems to be in use by something else. If Appletalk is active it may be using this serial port preventing PPP from using it" Appletalk is off and I have no printers or printer software installed to interfere with the serial port. So I don't know what to make of this message. In order to get this modem to dial to the internet do I have to download the Apple Express Modem 1.5.5 software from Apple's web site? If so, how do I configure it to dial? Modem software never had to be installed on my 180c since it had separate printer and modem ports and all one had to do was select them internal modem radio button in the Powerbook Setup Control Panel and it would dial and connect flawlessly.
