Details:

This patch reduces wall time for running large backups, especially on
computers that have a slow CPU or network connection, by uploading a volume
while the next volume is being compressed and encrypted.

The threading technique used is the same given in the Python 2.4.1
programming manual to ensure compatibility on installations without native
threads.

This change increases the usage of temporary storage by one 'volsize', which
is currently five megabytes with default options.
