thank you very much for the explanation. I did try it and made a dvd with the 
dvbcut multiplexer. It worked without any problem in my standalone dvd-player.

However, dvdauthor also complained about the mpeg file:

Did you also experience that? It seems, that dvdauthor also has problems with 
padding.
Maybe it uses some xine-code?

And now something completely different: Some times I have mpeg-files from 
dvb-s, that are to big for a dvd5. Then I need to
requant the elementary mpeg2 stream. For these cases it would be good to have a 
new
mux-option in dvbcut: dont mux at all, write separate files for audio and 
video. I think
this would be a useful feature for dvbcut.
