Hi! Regarding OPML, I should point out that LiveJournal already has such a functionality, though it's probably very much in the 'so undocumented not even staff knows it exists' category (but don't quote me on that).
You can generate an OPML file of your friends list by going to http://www.livejournal.com/tools/opml.bml . :) - Sophie.
