Yes! We will make it very, very easy for you to purchase paid time
for a friend, whether that friend has an account yet or not, and we
have lots of ideas about how to make it easy for you to find friends
who are in need of paid time. We're also planning on putting in a
"random active user sponsorship" -- something where you'll be able to
buy a paid account for a random active user even if you don't know
them, for people who want to give us extra money but don't have any
friends who need the paid time. The spec for that can be found here:

http://bugs.dwscoalition.org/show_bug.cgi?id=211

We'll also implement actual gift certificates, or "Dreamwidth
points", that will allow you to essentially give a DW gift card to
someone else. The spec for that is here:

http://bugs.dwscoalition.org/show_bug.cgi?id=135

Assume, in general, that we *want* to find ways to make it easy and
painless to give us money, and we want to deliver you really great
service in exchange for what you pay us!
