The matter will soon be in the hands of the diplomats *shudder*, if it's not already.
Lord knows how things will turn out. I forsee three scenarios: (1) Status Quo: Nothing changes. (2) Kosovo is given true independance following a period of time. New entity. (3) Kosovo is given a limited measure of independance. How limited, how independant, and how it is recognized internationally will help determine it's future DXCC entity status for our purposes. But until, and if, it happens, I wouldn't worry about it. 73 -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of John Warren Sent: Sunday, January 28, 2007 8:46 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [DX-NEWS] Another "New One?" Could be, but this one isn't quite as simple as some others. Kosovo is presently part of Serbia, which strongly objects to releasing it. So the UN is already involved, and the end result is presently looking like some sort of autonomy - "independence-lite". Whether that will qualify for a UN seat and/or ITU prefix block, and hence separate DXCC status, remains to be seen. Stay tuned, John, NT5C. ---------------------------------------------------------- Archives http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected] THE DXR is sponsored by the North Jersey DX Association.
