Subject: RE: [DX-NEWS] DX Most Wanted Survey

Hey, Paul just my two cents worth. I have 14 I need all-time. I'm not
even 100% sure how to rank the ones I need. I would probably put P5 at
the top because I know most everyone else needs that one as well. Next,
at least for me, would be BS7, followed by VU4, 3Y/B, VK0H, VK0M, BV9P,
FR/G, FR/T, FT8Z, E4, XW, 4W and T5.

Of those listed for me, many others already have both VK0's, E4, XW, T5
and VU4. On the other hand, I have KP1, KP5 and FO/C(all on multiple
bands) and a few others near or at the top of the list.
Just a suggestion, but if the survey was set-up to take whatever we put
in it up to 100 (or less) and then count the hits per entity and then
factor in the average spot, it would still give an accurate reading of
the need for that entity.
Maybe I'm wrong but like I said, it's just my two pennies worth.
If it stays the same, I will fill out the hundred, but will wait and
check my logs to at least make it a little more accurate.
Thanks for doing this.

In reference to the survey, I felt it valuable to have the 100 entries
ranked which would then provide the most accurate picture of the what's
needed list.

Is it really an inconvenience to take the 90 seconds to rank the list of
100 based on what you think you need to fill in for band/mode? If so, I
can evaluate removing the software requirement to do so.

Here is an additional point to ponder. If you DX club wants to make a
contribution to an expedition, don't you evaluate where they are on the
most wanted list to determine if and how much your group might
contribute ???

If 100 people only filled out the top 4 then what purpose would that
serve, except to possibly identify the top 4 -6 countries.

Looking forward to further dialog.

Paul

Pretty good for a "one man show"

Chuck Brady N4BQW, fresh from 3Y0C, showed some slides in Cape Town.
He'd made over 20 000 contacts, despite spending much time fixing
broken antennas.

That was a one-man show, Chuck Brady (now SK). I never was able to
hear him. I don't think he was anywhere near the level of an
operation like VP8SSI, the two big 3Y0 operations, VK0IR, etc. He
satisfied a few but by no means moved Bouvet much on the wanted list.
