I can say with almost 100% certainty that the call was NOT sent this way. I have the QSL to prove it. Here is one on the web: http://hamgallery.com/qsl/country/Chatham_Island/zl3hi.htm > Now that I know what's happened with many of the missing countries, the real > problem is that I can find no way to search for QSOs marked as Checked but > with a blank prefix or country name. It uses your old ("known good") and new country files and is described on my web page: http://www.ad1c.us/dx4win/index.htm#Country If you send me the differences exactly as I request on that page, I'll add them to the master country file. If this is too much work for you, just send me your original .CTY file and your log, and I'll do the work myself. I have spent countless hours making the DX4WIN country database as accurate as possible. If the database is correct, there will be no difference in your log whether the country information is stored with it or not. I can only fix problems when I am told about them. I have been asking for corrections several times a week for the last last two months. Finally, if you're not happy with the way that DX4WIN stores its data, there is no one forcing you to use it. Try DXbase. I did. That's why I use DX4WIN. 73 - Jim AD1C ===== Jim Reisert AD1C, 7 Charlemont Court, North Chelmsford, MA 01863 USA +978-251-9933, <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, http://www.ad1c.us From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Feb 23 10:44:14 2005 From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Jim Reisert AD1C) Date: Wed Feb 23 10:55:50 2005 Subject: [Dx4win] PRE 1975 CW In-Reply-To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> --- wo2n <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Can someone shed some light on why pre 1975 CW don't count toward an ACTIVE > CW award, CW DXCC? > Phone, & Mix go back to 1945, why did CW start or RESTART in 1975? The award was created from scratch. The ARRL probably decided to make everyone start on a equal footing. Probably same reason why single-band WAZ awards started in 1978 or so. 73 - Jim AD1C ===== Jim Reisert AD1C, 7 Charlemont Court, North Chelmsford, MA 01863 USA +978-251-9933, <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, http://www.ad1c.us From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Feb 23 10:49:11 2005 From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (ON4AOI) Date: Wed Feb 23 11:01:09 2005 Subject: [Dx4win] 6.04 upgrade problems In-Reply-To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Floyd, There is a way that your log DIDN'T change If you chose another option in Preferences|Import tab 73 Guy ON4AOI BAND DECODER and related stuff at http://www.on4aoi.be/banddecoder.htm DX4WIN soft and related stuff at http://www.on4aoi.be/dx4win.htm DX4WIN, WRITELOG, WF1B & RITTY CW & RTTY interfaces at http://www.on4aoi.be/keyer.htm ARSWIN link and related stuff at http://www.on4aoi.be/web7.htm DXTELNET soft and related stuff at http://www.on4aoi.be/dxt.htm -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Floyd Sense Sent: Wednesday, February 23, 2005 3:12 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [Dx4win] 6.04 upgrade problems I'm in the middle of upgrading from 6.03 to 6.04, and using the Rel 14 country file. Once again, I'm plagued with the problem of DX4WIN changing my log data because of changes in the country file. Before getting specific, I want to reiterate that no database system should EVER alter data in existing records for any reason. There are other ways to illustrate changes between stored data and current guidelines (represented here by the country file). Now, here's the new problem. While trying to reconcile differences in the country counts on all bands, I've run into a number of QSOs for which DX4WIN erased the country name and prefix (that means they are now blank). One such QSO was for a contact logged as c/ZL3HI on Chatham Is. That is the way the call was sent, so that's the way it was logged. However, in the country file, it's entered as: ZL3HI/C. It's probably not reasonable to have it both ways in the country file, but it also is not reasonable to have DX4WIN arbitrarily blank the country and prefix fields without any indication that it happened. Now that I know what's happened with many of the missing countries, the real problem is that I can find no way to search for QSOs marked as Checked but with a blank prefix or country name. The only way to find them is to compare the ARRL credited list with the DX4WIN country listing, line by line. And, to do that, you must first write the DX4WIN listing to a file, import into EXCEL, and resort the list by country name. I've tried searching on a blank field by entering "" and " " in that field, but no success. Any way to accomplish this? 73, Floyd - K8AC _______________________________________________ Dx4win mailing list [email protected] http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win
