Dick, the VE7CC program solves two different problems unrelated to DX4WIN
auto-login:

1.  It will automatically reconnect you to the node if you lose connectivity.
    DX4WIN does not have a built-in "keep alive" function.

2.  You can share a single node connection among multiple clients, like
    DX4WIN and Writelog, or DX4WIN running on two different computers.
