Garry, DX4WIN is looking in the wrong folder for your .dxl file for some reason. Go to FILE in the main window. Click on SAVE AS in the FILE drop down menu. A new window, SAVE AS will now open. The top window SAVE IN shows where DX4WIN is looking for the .dxl file. It should be SAVE, as in C:/DX4WIN805/SAVE. If not use the drop down menu to find C:/DX4WIN805 then the SAVE folder.
This happened to me once when I saved my .dxl file to a thumb drive by accidently doing a cut and paste instead of copy and paste and deleted the .dxl file in my SAVE folder. All I had to do is to copy and paste the .dxl file from the thumb drive back to the SAVE folder. Now when I back up my .dxl file I open the FILE/SAVE AS folder, right click on the .dxl file, select SEND TO from the drop down menu and send a copy of the .dxl file to my EXT HD or Thumb/flash drive. This puts a copy of the .dxl file in another drive for back up or a transfer. I use COX as my ISP and they provide a back up service. So I tell COX to back up my DX4WIN805/SAVE/k7acz.dxl file once a day or whenever I make a change to it. Hope this helps 73, Alan, K7ACZ -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Garry Shapiro Sent: Saturday, August 04, 2012 9:26 PM To: DX4WIN Reflector Subject: [Dx4win] DX4WIN 8.05 no longer starts Jim: While DX4WIN, Firefox, Tbird and other apps were open, some glitch occurred that obliged me to reboot the computer. Now DX4WIN no longer opens. When I attempt to open the app, I get a box saying "Failed to read .CTY file" and the sequence dies right there. What happened? DX4WIN updater says all files are updated. What do I do?
