I just used Jim, AD1C's, excellent data updater program to update my DX4W before making a LOTW submission. It worked great, first telling me there was a newer version available, updating me to the latest version, and then updating all my files.
Having said that I have a question concerning the QSL Manger data files. Before Jim built the updater program I used to do a manual update of the CTY files when Jim made them available at http://www.country-files.com/dx4win/index.htm. Part of the process was saving and merging my current QSL manager data and addresses into the newly downloaded file. In the past when prompted if I wanted to delete existing data and addresses I would say NO and allow them to merge. But now the default is YES to delete. The instructions on the bottom paragraph of http://www.country-files.com/dx4win/index.htm also says to answer YES to delete existing data. What is the difference between answering YES or NO to delete existing data? It seems if you say NO you would have more info available to you. This QSL Manager data file saving old data and merging is not mentioned in the instructions for using the DATA UPDATER program. It is something I remember from the old method of updating CTY files as on http://www.country-files.com/dx4win/index.htm.
