I was honored to sit at the Banquet table with Jim at the last INTL DX Convention at Visalia and happy to see he was recognized by all present for all his hard work.
I have my F3 lookup window linked to QRZ.COM and the GOLIST. (GOLIST data appears in the F3 window, I get a QRZ.COM lookup by clicking on the callsign in F3) so if I am sending a QSL I double check what is in the QSL MGR window against that info and if it is different I change what is in the QSL MGR window so I guess it doesn't really matter. But whatever changes/additions I make are added to Jim's list when I do this. It's just if I changed someone's address for some reason I have it saved in my own address file. I did do the merge using instructions from the old stand alone CTY update page but in the future I won't. One thing I noticed was before my merge the first address listed was for a call starting a 2-something, after my merge my added address for 1A0C was now at the top so I did make some additions to Jim's list. During the merge procedure there was a window that told me about dupes and additions but I didn't write down the numbers. But in the future I won't bother merging my own stuff with Jim's list. As Dan pointed out Jim's list is highly accurate so needs no additions. Basically: Jim's list is so accurate any personalized QSL Manager file is most likely useless for anyone. Jim has all someone would have personalized into their file and has more accurate dates for manager changes. I gave up doing my own a few years ago and leave it to Jim since he is so selfless doing all the work! I wish I had another way to thank him than just written kudos. The updater over-writes your existing country file, which contains the QSL managers. You would have to export the QSL managers before the update (and only DX4WIN can do that), update, then import them into the new country file. There is no way for the updater to "call" DX4WIN to do the export and import. - Jim ______________________________________________________________ DX4WIN mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
