Hi Joe. Thanks for your information. I've been using DX4WIN since way back with several versions of windows, never had any previous problems. With Vista I have user accounts turned off, but a few weeks ago for some reason I turned it on and found that DX4WIN came up with the same ports message. Turned user accounts back off and DX4WIN came back fine. Made me wonder if Win 8 has a user accounts control that is turned on, but if so I can't find it or how to turn it off. My computer knowledge is limited............ Thanks again for your always helpful advice. Mike, WM5DX.

I continue to use my old version on my PC with Vista. There have been no changes in the way Windows handles serial ports between Vista and Windows 8. Any serial application that works with Vista or Windows 7 should function without change in Windows 8. Windows 8 is, at its core, Windows 7 with a new "touch based" user interface. 73, ... I don't know if the new version of DX4WIN has been upgraded to function with Win 8, but it sounds like maybe not. I suggest you talk to the DX4WIN guys about the problem. I checked the DX4WIN user group a while back and did not find any info on DX4WIN with Win 8. I continue to use my old version on my PC with Vista. Before I upgrade DX4WIN I will want to be sure it has been upgraded, if not I will go to another logging program. > Mike, WM5DX. > > > > > ________________________________ > From: Heather & Murray MacDonald <[email protected]> > To: [email protected] > Sent: Tuesday, September 17, 2013 5:12 PM > Subject: [Dx4win] Comports > > > I have recently purchased DX4WIN 8.05 and a new computer with Windows 8.
