Now I'm curious. I only have a single HD in my shack PC, but it's networked with my workhorse laptop, where I keep a mirror copy of DXB for printing labels and award applications. Do I understand that this .bat approach will simultaneously backup DXB in both computers in seconds? Seems even better than WinZip and floppies...

I'm using a shortcut on the desktop. It's so easy. I'm very appreciative to Tony and Bill. 73, Jim McDonald - N7US Mesa, Arizona [EMAIL PROTECTED] N7US AR-Cluster: telnet://n7us.net ----- Original Message ----- From: "George Harlem, W1EBI" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "'FireBrick'" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; "'DXBase List'" <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, February 25, 2003 2:47 PM Subject: RE: [DXBase] adding a backup feature to DXBase Bill, I recall that post and its very detailed and complex steps. Isn't it just as effective to compress the .mdb, .co and .ini files with WinZip and export them to a floppy every so often/every contest? Say yes, 'cause that's how I back up :-) George W1EBI -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of FireBrick Sent: Tuesday, February 25, 2003 4:12 PM To: DXBase List Subject: [DXBase] adding a backup feature to DXBase Couple days ago I posted a way to create .bat file to backup DXBase critical files. My version was based on Tony Cash's batch file. Well duh! Don't know why I didn't think of this. But I used the Programs Menu feature to create a 'Backup' by Adding it to the Menu. So I don't even have to close DXB. For some reason while you can't Copy/Paste your .mdb file with DXBase open using Windows Explorer. I can run the batch file from within DXBase and it will copy files with no problem. I think Windows Explorer will not allow you to move a file currently being used by a program. But the batch file, which runs in a Dos box, will. Remember if you haven't backed up...it's not a question of IF. just a matter of WHEN! ----------------------------------------------------- Beauty is skin deep; ugly goes right to the bone. ----------------------------------------------------- W9OL, Bill H. in Chicagoland _______________________________________________ DXBase Reflector - Please visit us on the web at www.dxbase.com - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - To UNSUBSCRIBE please visit: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dxbase _______________________________________________ DXBase Reflector - Please visit us on the web at www.dxbase.com - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - To UNSUBSCRIBE please visit: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dxbase _______________________________________________ DXBase Reflector - Please visit us on the web at www.dxbase.com - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - To UNSUBSCRIBE please visit: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dxbase
