Hello U.S. County Experts,
I just upload my LoTW info and received a County error for Valdez Cordova in
Alaska. In the DXB County dropdown list the only counties showing seem to be
areas. When I check on the internet, to the uninitiated there does seem to
be counties in Alaska, so I guess the short question is; what gives?

Eric,
I've been using HamScope for several years now and have run up against the
same issue. Fortunately it's only a minor annoyance to me and there's an
easy solution.
The way to avoid this is to move back to DXBase after logging the contact
and highlight the next blank line in your log. Then move back to HamScope
and enter your next PSK or RTTY contact info. Otherwise, only your first
contact will be logged by DXBase.

Hi Joe and those following the HamScope/MMTTY threads,
I have been trying the HamScope (v.1.55) interface on and off for a couple
of months now. Though a neat front end for MMTTY it does not always do
automatic logging. That is, the 'Log It' button fails to work, hence no data
passed from the HamScope/MMTTY combination to DXbase.
The failure to 'Log It' just happens, I can not find a way to duplicate the
problem, other then sometimes leave the interface alone, go get a coffee and
come back to find it simple does not work anymore. If I remember from a
previous posting I am not alone with this problem.
Also the 'Log It' button does not allow consecutive entries to DXbase. You
still have to press F10 to update the record in the logging s/w between
contacts while in HamScope. This can be a real pain, if you forget to do
this step contacts are missed.
The idea of HamScope is great, just not reliable combination with DXbase, at
least at my station. I don't know the software mechanics of how to have
MMTTY and DXbase talk to each other, but there is no doubt that Jack has the
best understanding of his own program. It does not seem like an unfair
request to ask for a direct MMTTY interface. If not MMTTY perhaps a direct
RTTY (or other modes) interface of Jack's choice for use of sound cards and
terminal units.
Also with the premium value put on the computer desktop real estate these
days, it makes sense to have only DXbase do the hosting and not put extra
program boxes on a screen. There are those that wish to export and import
logs from one program to another, but this is not practical for everyone
either.
Regards,
Eric - VE3GSI.
