I follow a method similar to W1EBI. Since the card submission cost is the same for up to 120 QSOs, I prefer to submit cards when there is both card and LoTW credit available. Before processing a DXCC application, I back up my log in case I have to start over. I select "cards only" for the DXBase form and then make sure to "credit" those selections after running the first search. All of my "multiple QSO cards" have a post-it note sticker saying which QSOs I want credited. I found this to work fine for either field checking or checking at the ARRL HQ. Cards are sorted in order from the list; I notice that the field checker just puts the multiple ones aside as the next QSO will be found further down the list. As with W1EBI, the next query with "LoTW only" selected will produce the additional LoTW credits to be processed online for that part of the joint submission.
Peter's preference to chose LoTW credits "first" would work with the procedure above too. But it does require DXBase to search the log twice. His request is for Joe to do this automatically on one search and just print out the unique cards if both LoTW and cards are available. I'm OK doing the two step search as I would probably get confused when confronted with the added query box when trying to figure this out...:-)) All this still saves me a bunch of hand work. 73, George ..
