Eric, I just noticed that the probable usage of the K4A in the PREFIX column of the Labels Pending database was on-purpose..
Looking at the USA Bureaus -- the 4-land area is the ONLY Bureau area that has TWO addresses ... Here is the listing for 4-land Bureaus: K4,N4, Mecklenburg Amateur Radio Soc., Box DX, Charlotte, NC 28220 W4 AA-AK4, Sterling Park Amateur Radio Club, Call Box 599, Sterling, VA 20167 KA-KZ4, NA-NZ4, WA-WZ4 All other USA call-areas have just one Bureau address. 73 Joe wa6axe ---------------------------------------- > From: [email protected] > To: [email protected]; [email protected] > Subject: RE: [Dxbase] Label Prefix - Why K4A? > Date: Fri, 9 Jan 2009 10:34:32 -0500 > > Thanks for the explanation Joe. > I was beginning to think there was a 'secret handshake' for U.S. bureaus. > > Eric - Ve3gsi > >> -----Original Message----- >> From: Joe Glockner >> >> Eric, >> >> Since the PREFIX column in the Labels Pending Database >> is "hard-coded" within DXbase, I think that only Jack >> can answer you question .. >> >> I see that the K4A (or any other USA call-area) only >> comes up when I save a USA call that has "three" letters >> after the numerical digit of the callsign ... >> >> Hard to say without seeing the coding - whether this is >> a glitch/bug -- or -- whether it was intentional. >> >> >> 73 Joe wa6axe >> >> ________________________________ >>> From: ve3gsi >>> >>> >>> There is something I don't understand about Prefix and >>> U.S.A. callsigns generated in the label database, this is the prefix >> that I use >>> to sort my cards on before packaging them up for the bureau.
