Ben, I don't really follow your thinking about your options. I mean, you have been using DXbase happily for a very long time and after obtaining another computer which curiously uses a manufacturer discontinued operating system (xp) but has a new cpu chip design, you feel that since certain math intensive features no longer work reliably that you might have to change logging software? This despite the fact that no other user reports a similar issue and you yourself don't have the issue on other machines. Doesn't make much sense to me. Sort like changing cars because you filled it up with bad gasoline, isn't it?
If no one else reports a similar issue, and you don't have the issue on other machines, it would seem to me that the likely problem is in the machine giving you trouble. The code in DXbase is not machine specific. There is no special consideration given for any specific CPU. In deed, it is the job of the CPU to process the standard commands set to it through the computer's operating system. I too, will not cast disparity on AMD. Their processors work most of the time. However, my Intel powered devices never fail unless the source input to them is faulty. My suggestion is that if you intend to keep XP as your operating system, then use a machine that uses components that have been around a while (just like XP), and stay away from trying to use the latest and greatest hardware with an OS that is new. If you're only using the machine to run your logging software, you certainly don't need the fancy cpu to get adequate performance. Anyhow, if it were me, I'd deal with the machine that introduced the trouble, not the software that runs reliably for everyone else as well as yourself on other machines. However, I am still running XP Pro on the radio computer and have done so with both AMD and Intel processors. In fact, I have done so with several AMD configurations. And in each instance with AMD, there came a point in time where I can only describe the computer as acting "flaky" including the operation of DXbase. Since switching to an Intel MB and processor, I have had no such problems. This is not meant as an indictment of AMD, just my personal observation. And I was never able to pinpoint why I had the "flaky" behavior. In any event, I hope you will be able to work it out. 73, Doug W4OX > Hi all, > > > > I cannot believe that I am the only one having this problem.
